SUPPLEMENTS

Feeding the mind the right nutrients is important for brain health and memory, but diet alone can still leave you with serious nutritional gaps. Everyone should take basic supplements daily for optimal brain, memory, and body health. The supplement brand you choose to buy from is important and should be well researched.

MULTIVITAMIN

  • A 100% multivitamin/mineral complex with extra vitamin B6, B12, folate and vitamin D. Studies have shown that vitamins can work together to prevent mental decline, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. It is recommended taking a high potency multiple vitamin every day. Multiple vitamins help you fill the gap between what you need and what most people get.

    OMEGA-3

  • Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. Omega-3s promote the production of brain cells and reduce brain inflammation. They can improve mood and protect from memory loss. Omega-3s play such an important role in brain and body health. Dr Daniel Amen suggests that most people take them every day regardless of their brain type.

    GINKGO

  • Ginkgo biloba has been shown to help increase cerebral blood flow and memory. The typical adult dose is 60 to 120 mg twice a day. It is recommend to start at the lower dose for several weeks and then increase to the higher amount to determine at which dosage your focus, energy, and memory are sharpest.

    VITAMIN D

  • Vitamin D, also known as the “sunshine vitamin,” is essential for brain health and memory. Low levels of vitamin D have been associated with memory problems and dementia. Studies have shown that vitamin D3, the active form of vitamin D, may stimulate the immune system to rid the brain of beta-amyloid. Current recommended daily dose: 400 IU of vitamin D.

    GINGER ROOT

  • Ginger, as a supplement or added into your diet, has anti-inflammatory properties that may protect against neurodegenerative diseases and reduce the oxidative stress that causes brain cells to age and die. Ginger contains natural agents to help decrease nausea and vomiting, and it may help lower cholesterol. Note: Because of ginger’s anticoagulant properties, check with your healthcare provider before using ginger supplements, especially if you’re taking an anticoagulant medication.

    TARGETED NUTRACEUTICALS

  • Nutraceuticals nourish the mind. High-quality, targeted nutraceuticals recommended by your physician can help strengthen and preserve cognitive function for your specific brain type. Every brain and body is different. That’s why it’s important to know exactly what nutraceuticals are right for you and in what dosage that will help you achieve your specific health goals and needs.
